Unsere heutige Party findet im Anschluss an das Side Panel „Female Future“ im Mensch Meier statt, ein Ort für eine politisch aktive, kreative junge Szene, wild und bunt und ohne Allüren. Das Mensch Meier, dessen Name sich aus einem alten Ton, Steine, Scherben Stück ableitet (und die zur Eröffung dort auch gespielt haben), ist nicht ganz so leicht zu finden, ein Rohdiamant etwas versteckt am Rande eines Gewerbegebiets, bei dem selbst mancher Urberliner rätselt, zu welchem Bezirk das nun  gehören mag…

On February 3, 2018, live music venues all over Europe open their doors to an audience that might not be familiar with the live music and clubbing activities. They introduce their visitors to the work accomplished during the daytime necessary for a concert or a dance event at night. The participating music venues chose how they want to create their Open Club Day: guided tours through the entire venue including the backstage areas, exchange with staff and volunteers, introduction to the different professions and activities, workshops and participatory activities, live acts, political discussion panels are part of the unique day program. The Open Club Day, held for the first time 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland, aims to raise awareness about the reality of the daily work in a live music venue among its neighbours, local cultural players, authorities, and policy makers. By highlighting daily activities of music venues, the Open Club Day offers the right circumstances for a constructive exchange than can help to clear up negative stereotypes that are so often cultivated about live music venues and nightlife. The focus on the panel “Open Club Door Day” is on the five years of experience from Switzerland and on the aim and goal of the first European Open Club Door Day held by Live DMA.

Mit diesem feministischen Vorabendprogramm wollen wir bestehende Strukturen aufbrechen und Frauen/ Queers/ Non-Binäre Menschen dazu ermutigen aktiv zu werden – als DJ*, Booker*in, Veranstaltungsorganisator*in und vieles mehr. Tauscht euch mit Vertreter*innen von Kollektiven und Netzwerken aus und erhaltet Anregungen und Motivation die Nacht mitzugestalten. Im Anschluss feiern wir bei Female Future Friday w/ Dana Ruh, Ena Lind, Natascha Kann etc. in Kooperation mit dem Sonntagsinstitut.

Let’s break existing boundaries and empower females/ queers/ non-binaries to become active and participate in the electronic music scene – whether they like to work as dj, booker, event organizer or else. We kindly invite to an evening of exchange with representatives of feminist/ female collectives and networks where we’ll get inspiration and motivation to shape the nightlife. After the pre-evening event the night goes on with our Female Future Friday w/ Dana Ruh, Ena Lind, Natascha Kann etc., organized in cooperation with the Sonntagsinstitut collectice.

Aus erster Hand werden Erfahrungen, Hürden und Zukunftspläne von Frauen* geschildert, die seit Jahren aktiv im Musikbereich unterwegs sind. Holt euch Mut und Inspiration von fünf interessanten Persönlichkeiten.

Representatives from different collectives, networks and platforms are invited to talk about their personal careers and incitements. From obstacles to future plans these women* will portray their first-hand experiences in the field of music. Get encouragement and inspiration from five interesting personalities that have been active in the nightlife for years.

Teilhabe ist das Ziel – der Weg dahin heißt Arbeitsbedingungen und Jobmöglichkeiten. Frauen* sind besonderen Hürden in ihren Karrieren ausgesetzt. Aber andere haben diese bereits gemeistert und geben Einblicke in ihren Alltag als Booker*in, Clubbetreiber*in, Promoter*in, Labelmanager*in, DJ etc. Sie beantworten Fragen wie: Wo und wie fängt man an? Welche Jobs gibt es überhaupt und wie baut man sich ein Netzwerk auf, erhält Bookings, bringt sich ein ins Nachtleben?

Welche Fragen beschäftigen euch? Bringt diese zur Diskussionsrunde / Workshop mit und erfahrt wie ihr die Nacht mitgestalten könnt.

Participation is the goal – the way to get there is called working conditions and job opportunities. Especially women* are exposed to particular obstacles in their careers. But others have already overcome these difficulties and will share their knowledge of what it takes to successfully participate. They will give insights into their everyday life as a booker, club owner, promoter, label manager, DJ etc. and answer questions like: Where and how do you start? What jobs are out there, how to build a network, get bookings and participate in the music world?

What are your important questions? Bring them to the discussion / workshop and learn how you can shape the nightlife.

Hier geht es um Strategien zur Verbreitung feministischer Werte und die Stärkung feministischer Netzwerke im elektronischen Musikbereich. Wir alle wissen, dass immer noch Grenzen und Vorurteile in den Köpfen einiger Menschen bestehen. Dies wurde oft genug besprochen. Aber wir wollen nach echten Lösungsansätzen suchen! Was könnt ihr selber beitragen? Welche Veränderungen sind bereits geschehen und was kann in der Zukunft nachhaltig für ein faires Selbstverständnis getan werden? Daran wollen wir gemeinsam arbeiten, egal ob jung oder alt, schon langjährig im Musikbusiness tätig oder ganz frisch dabei.

This is about strategies for the wide distribution of feminist values and the empowerment of feminist networks in the music business. We all know that there are still existing boundaries in some people’s head’s. That has been discussed often enough. But we want to look for real solution approaches! What can you bring to the party? What does it take for a real change of the situation, what changes have already been made and what can we do for the future? We want to build something up together – no matter if you are young, older, active in the music business for several years or a newbie.

Fem. aus Leipzig geben auf eure Fragezeichen Antworten und einen Einstieg in die Technik eine*s jeden klassischen DJs. Probiert euch hinter den Turntables aus und bringt gerne eure eigene Lieblingsmusik mit – auf Vinyl oder USB. Egal ob Neueinsteiger*in oder Halbprofi, Hauptsache ihr habt Bock – denn die Musikszene braucht mehr coole und mutige Frauen* hinter den Plattentellern.

Crossfader? BPM and beatmatching? What’s deal with all the buttons over here and most important: CDJs or vinyl? So many questions. But the experienced DJs from Feat. Fem. from Leipzig will give you all the answers you need and an introduction to the technics. Learn how to use turntables and bring your own favorite music – on vinyl or USB. No matter whether you are a newcomers or semi-professional – we are happy to play some good music together with you at Mensch Meier. Because the music scene needs more cool and courageous women* behind the turntables.
