In den letzten Jahren wurde zunehmend das Phänomen und die mögliche Schädlichkeit der neuen psychoaktiven Substanzen (NPS) von Expert*innen, Politiker*innen und in den Medien diskutiert. Abgesehen von der Frage, inwiefern diese Substanzen als Freizeitdrogen genutzt werden, stellt ihre Verbreitung eine neue Herausforderung für Drug-Checking-Angebote dar. Dieses Panel, präsentiert von den europäischen Projekten BAONPS und TEDI (NewNet), fokussiert auf die Ergebnisse von Drogenanalysen, Schwierigkeiten beim Drug Checking sowie neue Methoden und Entwicklungen in Hinblick auf die Qualität der Tests. Außerdem wird der Entwicklung nachgegangen, dass NPS zunehmend als Streckmittel in herkömmlichen Drogen verwendet werden.

In recent years, experts, politicians and the media have been talking about the phenomenon and possible harmfulness of new psychoactive substances (NPS) showing up in the European drug market. Besides the question of whether these substances are being used in recreational settings, this dynamic development is a challenge for the drug checking services. The panel “Drug Checking in a Dynamic Reality” will be presented by the European BAONPS and TEDI (NEW-Net) projects, and will focus on analysing results, analytical obstacles, new methods and developments related to the quality of substances, and to the reality that new psychoactive substances are being laced into more “classic” drugs.
